Indications : diarrhea, also in diarrhea that is not helped by other over-the-counter medications: food allergies, lactose and gluten intolerance, stress diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and even diarrhea associated with diabetes; for adults, the elderly and children from 6 years of age.
Action : treats both the first and severe symptoms of diarrhea, counteracts the negative consequences of diarrhea.
Dosage : orally.
- adults and children over 12 years of age: acute diarrhea - the first dose of 2 capsules, followed by 1 capsule after each loose bowel movement. Do not take more than 8 capsules a day; chronic diarrhea: initially 1 capsule twice a day, if necessary the dose can be increased to 4-6 capsules a day. In children, the dose should be adjusted to body weight (3 capsules / 20kg body weight).
- children from 9 to 12 years old: acute diarrhea: 1 capsule after each loose bowel movement. Do not take more than 3 capsules a day; Chronic diarrhea: 1 capsule after each loose bowel movement. Do not take a dose greater than 3 capsules a day ;,
- children aged 6 to 8 years: acute diarrhea: 1 capsule after each loose bowel movement. Do not take more than 3 capsules a day; Chronic diarrhea: 1 capsule after each loose bowel movement. Do not take more than 2 capsules a day.
No dose adjustment is required in patients with renal impairment or in the elderly. Diarrhea may disappear after the first dose. The capsules should be taken whole, but if you have trouble swallowing, you can pour the contents into a small amount of water and drink.
Composition : 1 capsule contains: active substance: loperamide hydrochloride 2mg and excipients: lactose monohydrate, corn starch, talc, magnesium stearate. The composition of the gelatin capsule: gelatin, erythrosine (E127), quinoline yellow (E104).
Contraindications: hypersensitivity (allergy) to loperamide or any of the other ingredients of the drug; in conditions in which it is undesirable to slow down intestinal peristalsis due to the possible risk of serious complications, including intestinal obstruction, giant colon and toxic colonic dilatation, use of the drug should be stopped immediately in the event of constipation, flatulencestomach or bowel obstruction; intestinal obstruction, acute ulcerative colitis, acute onset of hemorrhagic colitis, pseudomembranous enteritis, especially associated with the administration of broad-spectrum antibiotics; bacterial enterocolitis caused by pathogenic Salmonella, Shigella and Campylobacter bacteria; acute dysentery with blood in the feces and with elevated body temperature. Loperamide containing medicines are not recommended for use in children under 6 years of age. Due to the content of lactose monohydrate, the drug should not be used in patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption.
