Resinous tree naturalnyly present in most of Europe that can reach 35 meters high. It is recognizable by its smell of sap and its ocher-red coloured bark and today covers, with Aleppo pines and maritime pines, 20% of the French forest.
 
Its olejek eteryczny is obtained by steam distillation of the aerial parts. This process consists of carrying away the volatile constituents (the olejek eteryczny) of the needles with the water vapor. Then, the steam condenses in the essences, separating the olejek eterycznys from the hydrosol (water).
